The Video Vanguard Award Goes to ... Shakira!

Shakira is set to receive the Video Vanguard Award at this year's VMAs.

The award is given to artists "for their outstanding contributions and profound impact on music video and popular culture."

It was first awarded to The Beatles, David Bowie and Richard Lester at the inaugural VMAs in 1984. The award was later renamed to honor Michael Jackson.

Sean "Diddy" Combs will be honored with the Global Icon Award.

Doja Cat, whose "Attention" is nominated for Video of the Year, recently announced her upcoming album, Scarlet. It drops September 22.
